SELECTMEN’S MEETING MINUTES

July 17, 2008

 

Selectmen's Office is opened at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Televised Selectmen’s Meeting starts at 7:00 p.m.

SELECTMEN: James Bickford, Philip Dearborn, and Raymond Webb, Sr. were in attendance. 

Televised Meeting Opened:  Selectman Bickford brought the meeting to order at 7:04pm.

Attending:  Nancy Maxwell, Ronald Phinney, and Roxanne Herrick.

Selectmen’s Minutes: Selectman Webb made a motion to accept the minutes of the Selectmen’s Meeting for July 10, 2008 as written.  Second by Selectman Dearborn and vote was unanimous.

Accounts Payable and Payroll: Selectman Dearborn made a motion to accept and approve Warrant #29: Appropriations: $193,020.17 (school payment $164,830.90) and Payroll: $7,461.20 (Fire/EMS semi annual officer stipends).  Second by Selectman Webb and vote was unanimous.

PURCHASE ORDER REQUESTS:

MMDY: PO request to purchase 1-baby changing station and 2-boxes of sanitary liners for the changing station from Allied Hand Dryers and Baby Changing Stations for $208.00.  Selectman Dearborn made a motion to approve, second by Selectman Webb and vote was unanimous.

      PO request to pay Katahdin Analytical Services for 1 retest for coliform in the RV Host well at MMDY beach, totaling $25.00.  Selectman Webb made a motion to approve request, second by Selectman Dearborn and vote was unanimous.

      PO request to purchase 1-white volleyball net and adjustable pro side lines/sand stakes from Volleyball USA for $285.00.  Selectman Dearborn made a motion to approve, second by Selectman Webb and vote was unanimous.

      PO request to purchase roofing panels for the changing room/storage building and associated hardware from Home Depot for $795.07.  Selectmen will hold this request until CEO checks out building.

      PO request to reimburse Vine Kane $133.06 for tennis court materials.  Selectman Dearborn made a motion to approve, second by Selectman Bickford and vote was unanimous.

      PO request to reimburse Howard Allen $15.22 for cement for tennis court refurbishment.  Selectman Bickford made a motion to approve request, second by Selectman Dearborn and vote was unanimous.

      PO request to reimburse Joe Presz for 1 trash can for beach area totaling $17.93.  Selectman Bickford made a motion to approve request, second by Selectman Dearborn and vote was unanimous.

      PO request to reimburse Howard Allen $23.61 for lumber to be used on changing room/storage building and 1 lawn rake.  Selectman Dearborn made a motion to approve, second by Selectman Webb and vote was unanimous.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Fuel Assistance: Fuel Assistance sign up will begin July 21st and 28th and August 18th and 25th .  Anyone wishing to apply for fuel assistance must make an appointment by calling 1-800-965-5762 ext 2950.  Selectman Webb reported he spoke with York County Community Action and they have a computer printout of everyone that used this service last year.  They are picking out the elderly and those with small children from this printout and calling them for appointments first. The Town does not have to advertise these dates.

 

Salt Shed: Selectman Dearborn gave an update on salt shed area.  Maine Drilling and Blasting are done blasting the ledge and Selectman Bickford added the Selectmen are looking into renting a portable crusher to crush the ledge for use beside town roads.

 

INFORMATIONAL BULLETIN:

General Assistance Office is opened Monday’s from 9am-12pm and 2pm-4pm.

Transfer Station Hours are, Saturday from 9am – 4pm; Sunday from 12-4pm; Wednesday from 10am – 2pm.  

Silver Bullets are in back parking lot behind Municipal Complex and is accessed by Axelsen Road.  Selectman Webb reported the State Recycling paperwork is back and Limington has increased its recycling to 21.8%.  Keep up the good work.

Town Road Update: Selectman Bickford gave update on road repairs.  Jo Joy Road is almost done; it has been ditched, widened, and culverts installed.  Roadwork will be starting on Tucker Road right-off.

4-Wheelers: Selectman Bickford asked that all riding 4-wheelers to please respect the landowner’s property, trails, and follow all state and local laws. 

 

Selectman Dearborn made a motion to adjourn at 7:16p.m.  Meeting adjourned.
