SELECTMEN’S MEETING MINUTES

July 10, 2008

 

Selectmen's Office is opened at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Televised Selectmen’s Meeting starts at 7:00 p.m.

SELECTMEN: James Bickford, Philip Dearborn, and Raymond Webb, Sr. were in attendance. 

Televised Meeting Opened:  Selectman Bickford brought the meeting to order at 7:12pm after some technical difficulties were fixed.

Attending:  Nancy Maxwell, Howard Allen, and Roxanne Herrick.

Selectmen’s Minutes: Selectman Webb made a motion to accept the minutes of the Selectmen’s Meeting for July 3, 2008 as written.  Second by Selectman Dearborn and vote was unanimous.

Accounts Payable and Payroll: Selectman Dearborn made a motion to accept and approve Warrant #28: Appropriations: $67,384.30 and Payroll: $6,358.30.  Second by Selectman Webb and vote was unanimous.

PURCHASE ORDER REQUESTS:

Fire Department: Po request to register ATV being purchased from Michael Hartford with Fire Dept fundraiser monies.  Selectman Webb made a motion to approve with second from Selectman Dearborn, and vote was unanimous.

      PO request to purchase 1 case of copier paper for the Fire Dept.  Selectman Dearborn made a motion to approve with second by Selectman Webb, and vote was unanimous.

      PO request to pay Fire Dept. semi annual officers stipends totaling $3,000. Selectman Webb made a motion to approve with second from Selectman Dearborn, and vote was unanimous.

EMS Department: PO request to pay EMS Dept semi annual officers stipends totaling $1,000.  Selectman Bickford made a motion to approve with second from Selectman Webb and vote was unanimous.

      PO request to have Rowe Ford Westbrook repair air conditioner on Rescue 1. Selectman Dearborn made a motion to approve with second by Selectman Webb, and vote was unanimous.

      PO request to have Rowe Ford Westbrook repair transmission problems on Rescue 2. Selectman Bickford made a motion to approve with second from Selectman Dearborn and vote was unanimous.

      PO request to have RCM Communications repair two portable radios. Selectman Bickford made a motion to approve with second from Selectman Webb and vote was unanimous.

Old Town Hall: PO request to pay Paul Saulle $50.00 for repairs made to the front steps at the Old Town Hall.  Selectman Bickford reported this was a safety issue and repairs needed to be done immediately.  He made a motion to approve payment with second from Selectman Webb and vote was unanimous. 

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Fuel Assistance: Fuel Assistance sign up will begin July 21st and 28th and August 18th and 25th .  These are the four Monday’s they will have for July and August. Anyone wishing to apply for fuel assistance must make an appointment by calling 1-800-965-5762 ext 2950.    If you need the phone number, call the girls in the office and they can give it to you.

Salt Shed: Selectman Dearborn gave an update on salt shed area.  Maine Drilling and Blasting will be blasting ledge tomorrow which will widen the area.  The material will be used to fill a low area on site. Selectman Bickford reported the same company will be blasting on Jo Joy Road also.

 

INFORMATIONAL BULLETIN:

General Assistance Office is opened Monday’s from 9am-12pm and 2pm-4pm.

Transfer Station Hours are, Saturday from 9am – 4pm; Sunday from 12-4pm; Wednesday from 10am – 2pm.  

Silver Bullets are in back parking lot behind Municipal Complex and is accessed by Axelsen Road.  Selectman Webb reported we will need to empty the silver bullets the first of next week.  Everyone is doing a good job recycling and keep it up.

July 4th Parade/Fireworks: Selectmen reported last Saturday night at the fireworks it was a great job and everyone seemed to have a good time.  They would like to say thank you to Andrea Thompson and her group for the great job they did putting together the parade and fireworks.

Beach Area:  Howard Allen reported everything is going well at the beach and everyone seems happy.  Selectman Dearborn wanted to commend the committee members for they are doing a great job.

4-Wheelers: Selectman Bickford asked that all riding 4-wheelers to please respect the landowner’s property, trails, and follow all state and local laws. 

 

Selectman Webb made a motion to adjourn at 7:25p.m.  Meeting adjourned.
