SELECTMEN’S MEETING MINUTES

June 26, 2008

 

Selectmen's Office is opened at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Televised Selectmen’s Meeting starts at 7:00 p.m.

SELECTMEN: James Bickford, Philip Dearborn, and Raymond Webb, Sr. were in attendance. 

Televised Meeting Opened:  Selectman Bickford brought the meeting to order at 7:07pm.

Attending:    Nancy Maxwell, Ronald Phinney, Frank Foss, Phil Armentino, Jim Braley, Bonnie McLaughlin, and Roxanne Herrick.

Selectmen’s Minutes: Selectman Webb made a motion to accept the minutes of the Selectmen’s Meeting for June 19, 2008 as written.  Second by Selectman Dearborn and vote was unanimous.

Accounts Payable and Payroll: Selectman Dearborn made a motion to accept and approve Warrant #26: Appropriations: $34,777.38 and Payroll: $4,984.20.  Second by Selectman Webb and vote was unanimous.

PURCHASE ORDER REQUESTS: none

NEW BUSINESS:

Maine DOT held a public meeting tonight at 6:00pm to discuss the replacement of the Chases Mill Bridge.  All went well.

2008 Mil Rate: Selectman Dearborn made a motion set the mil rate for 2008 at $8.00 per/thousand. Second by Selectman Webb and vote was unanimous. Town’s taxable valuation is $317,956,656.  Total appropriations for 2008: $3,248,773 less deductions of $704,163 giving us a net to be raised by property taxes of $2,544,610.

Silver Bullets: Selectmen have decided to leave the recycling silver bullets in the back parking lot behind the Municipal Complex.  An ad will be placed in the Shopping Guide to inform the public.

Salt Shed: Selectman Bickford reported the salt shed project has taken a big leap this week.  A D9 dozer from Grondin’s is grading area for the shed’s foundation and doing a great job. 

INFORMATIONAL BULLETIN:

General Assistance Office is opened Monday’s from 9am-12pm and 2pm-4pm.

Transfer Station Hours are, Saturday from 9am – 4pm; Sunday from 12-4pm; Wednesday from 10am – 2pm.  

Silver Bullets are in back parking lot behind Municipal Complex and is accessed by Axelsen Road.  Selectman Webb asked all to keep up the good work on recycling.

CEO, Ronald Phinney: Vacation: CEO, Phinney reported he will be on vacation for two weeks starting June 30th until July 11th.  The CEO from Limerick will fill-in for Mr. Phinney while he is away.

Beach Area: Selectman Bickford reported the Moy Mo Da Yo beach area is becoming a family friendly area.  The committee has hired a RV host and attendant, have been doing a lot of work at the beach, and are repairing the tennis courts. 

4-Wheelers: Selectman Bickford asked that all riding 4-wheelers to please respect the landowners property, trails, and follow all state and local laws. 

4th July: Next Friday is July 4th and the office will be closed and also, Saturday, July 5th, due to the holiday.

Selectman Webb made a motion to adjourn at 7:18p.m.  Meeting adjourned.
