SELECTMEN’S MEETING MINUTES

June 19, 2008

 

Selectmen's Office is opened at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Televised Selectmen’s Meeting starts at 7:00 p.m.

 

SELECTMEN: James Bickford, Philip Dearborn, and Raymond Webb, Sr. were in attendance. 

Televised Meeting Opened:  Selectman Bickford brought the meeting to order at 7:06pm.

Attending:    Nancy Maxwell, Ronald Phinney, and Roxanne Herrick

Selectmen’s Minutes: Selectman Dearborn made a motion to accept the minutes of the Selectmen’s Meeting for June 12, 2008 as written.  Second by Selectman Webb and vote was unanimous.

Accounts Payable and Payroll: Selectman Webb made a motion to accept and approve Warrant #25: Appropriations: $208,939.30 and Payroll: $4,456.60.  Second by Selectman Dearborn and vote was unanimous. Selectman Bickford reported $152,463 went for the MSAD6 school payment and $38,450 to F.R. Carroll for FEMA paving.

NEW BUSINESS:

Chases Mill Bridge: MaineDOT will hold a Public Meeting on Thursday, June 26, at 6:00pm here at the Municipal Complex to discuss the future replacement of the Chases Mill Bridge.  Selectman Bickford reported this is a very important meeting to those that live in the area.

Town ecomaine Director: Selectman Webb on behalf of the Selectmen thanked Ed Auden for serving as a member of the ecomaine Board of Directors for the past 3 years or so.  Ed served the Town well and decided he didn’t want to continue in this position.  If anyone is interested in serving on this board, please contact the Selectmen’s office.  Selectman Webb gave an update of the workings of the single sort recycling process and ecomaine reports a $900,000 profit this past year.  He and Selectman Dearborn had attended a meeting at ecomaine this morning. They also learned Saco, Cornish, Poland and Monmouth have all come on board with ecomaine. 

Recycling: Missy from ecomaine was pleased to report to Selectman Webb that the silver bullet recycling has come in at a 32% increase from July 07’ thru May 08’.  This is a great accomplishment and Selectman Webb asked all to keep up the good work.  Selectman Bickford reported a check for $1500.00 had come in from the sale of metal which was hauled.

Parking Lot Paving: Selectman Webb reported the three day inconvenience of taping of the parking lot was worth it, now you see how nice the finished paving work is.  This job came in on budget as quoted.

Salt Shed Project: Selectman Dearborn reported the culvert is in on the route 117 site, and the Road Commissioner has started the driveway.  A large piece of equipment from Grondin’s will be used to prepare the area this coming week.

 

INFORMATIONAL BULLETIN:

General Assistance Office is opened Monday’s from 9am-12pm and 2pm-4pm.

Transfer Station Hours are, Saturday from 9am – 4pm; Sunday from 12-4pm; Wednesday from 10am – 2pm.  

Silver Bullets are in back parking lot behind Municipal Complex and is accessed by Axelsen Road.  Selectman Bickford reported the silver bullets will probably stay put in the plowing parking lot out back.  If anyone has any comments or concerns with this new location, please contact the Selectmen.

CEO, Ronald Phinney: Vacation: CEO, Phinney reported he will be on vacation for two weeks starting June 30th until July 11th.  The CEO from Limerick will fill-in for Mr. Phinney while he is away.

 

Selectman Dearborn made a motion to adjourn at 7:20p.m.  Meeting adjourned.

 

After the televised meeting, Mark Brulotte, Trail Master of the Limington Wheelers ATV Club, came in to see if the Selectmen would sign a land use permit to allow the ATV club to use the 1.8 miles of Beaver Berry Road as part of the 4-wheeler trail which was permitted on a trial basic last year.  The club did a good job maintaining and cleaning up the area last year.  Selectman Bickford made a motion to authorize the Limington Wheelers ATV Club to continue the 1.8 mile trail on Beaver Berry Road which was established in 2007 for a five (5) years, with the notation that the Selectmen will have the authority to negate this agreement during this time frame if complaints are received or misuse of the road is reported.  Second by Selectman Dearborn and the vote, unanimous.
