SELECTMEN’S MEETING MINUTES

May 29, 2008

 

Selectmen's Office is opened at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Televised Selectmen’s Meeting starts at 7:00 p.m.

 

SELECTMEN: James Bickford, Philip Dearborn, and Raymond Webb, Sr. were in attendance. 

Televised Meeting Opened:  Selectman Bickford brought the meeting to order at 7:10pm.

Attending:    Nancy Maxwell, Ronald Phinney, Anne Dunbar, Stephen Kelley, and Roxanne Herrick

Selectmen’s Minutes: Selectman Dearborn made a motion to accept the minutes of the Selectmen’s Meeting for May 22, 2008 as written.  Second by Selectman Webb and vote was unanimous.

Accounts Payable and Payroll: Selectman Webb made a motion to accept and approve Warrant #22: Appropriations: $4,004.85 and Payroll: $3,385.80.  Second by Selectman Dearborn and vote was unanimous. 

 

PURCHASE ORDER REQUESTS:

 

50/50 Forest Match: PO request to purchase 4 sets of wild land firefighting coveralls from Admiral Fire and Safety for $756.00 plus shipping. Selectman Dearborn made a motion to approve the request, with second by Selectman Bickford, and vote was unanimous.

Fire Dept: PO request to purchase 1 fire axe (to replace one that was broken) from Heiman Fire Equipment for $109.95 plus shipping.  Selectman Dearborn made a motion to approve the request, with second by Selectman Bickford, and vote was unanimous.

           PO request to have Mark Chartier repair Engine 1 (loss of power, max speed 35mph).  Selectman Dearborn made a motion to approve the request, with second by Selectman Bickford who stated the filter was plugged, and vote was unanimous.

EMS Dept: PO request to purchase and install retracting steps on both ambulances by Sugerloaf Emergency Vehicles for $1,200.00.  Monies to come from a Maine Municipal Association Safety Grant.  . Selectman Webb made a motion to approve the request, with second by Selectman Dearborn, and vote was unanimous.

MMDYRAC: PO request to reimburse Howard Allen $14.99 for a mobile phone for beach attendant. Selectman Dearborn made a motion to approve the request, with second by Selectman Bickford, and vote was unanimous.

         PO request to reimburse Howard Allen $25.00 for Maine State Police background check for part-time attendant at beach.  Selectman Webb made a motion to approve the request, with second by Selectman Bickford, and vote was unanimous.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Silver Bullets: Selectman Bickford reported the recycling silver bullets are outback the Municipal Complex (use Axelsen Road).  The recycling is down a little, but we hope you continue to fill the silver bullets.  Selectmen are hoping to have the parking lot paved soon.

Town Maps:  John Miller from Eastern Mapping Services will be here tomorrow to update the Town’s maps.

 

INFORMATIONAL BULLETIN:

General Assistance Office is opened Monday’s from 9am-12pm and 2pm-4pm.

Transfer Station Hours are, Saturday from 9am – 4pm; Sunday from 12-4pm; Wednesday from 10am – 2pm.

Friends of Moy-Mo-Da-Yo, Inc.:  Anne Dunbar reported the Friends of Moy-Mo-Da-Yo have received their non-profit corporation papers this week.  This group has nothing to do with the Town.

Davis Memorial Library: Stephen Kelley gave an update on what is going on at the Library.  They will be doing a new roof with green slate, and new copper nails, copper gutters and down shoots.  The contract is with Craig Childs, he will be overseeing the job which will start Monday.  Scrapping and repainting of trim is being done and the draining system in the basement is done.  Mr. Kelley asked the Selectmen to check to see if it is the Town’s responsibility or State’s to clean out the culvert crossing route 117.  Selectmen said it was the States responsibility on state highways.  The Trustees are going to have the old doors redone by a refinisher.  He also asked about the water and well issue, and if the Trustee’s need to do anything.  Selectmen said no, they are taking care of it.  The Trustee’s are hoping to have an open house sometime in September. 

Salt Shed Project:  Selectman Dearborn reported he checked with DOT and the Town is set to go on the salt shed entrance.  The culvert size is 24 inch.

  

Selectman Dearborn made a motion to adjourn at 7:31p.m.  Meeting adjourned.
