SELECTMEN’S MEETING MINUTES

May 15, 2008

 

Selectmen's Office is opened at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Televised Selectmen’s Meeting starts at 7:00 p.m.

 

SELECTMEN: James Bickford, Philip Dearborn, and Raymond Webb, Sr. were in attendance. 

Televised Meeting Opened:  Selectman Bickford brought the meeting to order at 7:01pm.

Attending:    Nancy Maxwell, Ronald Phinney, Howard Allen, and Roxanne Herrick

Selectmen’s Minutes: Selectman Dearborn made a motion to accept the minutes of the Selectmen’s Meeting for May 7, 2008 as written.  Second by Selectman Webb and vote was unanimous.

Accounts Payable and Payroll: Selectman Webb made a motion to accept and approve Warrant #20: Appropriations: $168,633.04 and Payroll: $3,966.49.  Second by Selectman Dearborn and vote was unanimous. 

 

PURCHASE ORDER REQUESTS:

EMS Dept: PO request to reimburse Michael Hartford for the purchase of three used Motorola portable radios at the New England Ham Festival for $150.00.  Selectman Webb made a motion to approve the purchase, second by Selectman Dearborn and vote was unanimous.

 Fire Dept: PO request to purchase 20 MEMS protocol books for 2008 from Maine EMS totaling $100.00.  Selectman Dearborn made a motion to approve purchase order, second by Selectman Webb, and vote was unanimous.

      PO request to purchase 1 pair of structural firefighting boots from Admiral Fire Equipment for $140.00.  Selectman Webb made a motion to approve the purchase, second by Selectman Dearborn and vote was unanimous.

Charles Warren Post: PO request to purchase 1 gross (144) 12”X18” U.S. Cotton Grave Marker Flags from Tri State Flag totaling, est. $140.00.  Selectman Webb made a motion to approve the purchase, second by Selectman Dearborn and vote was unanimous.

      PO request to purchase 24-G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic) Veterans Grave Markers from New England Mfg. at $5.00 each, plus shipping.  Estimated total is $132.00.  Selectman Webb made a motion to approve the purchase, second by Selectman Dearborn and vote was unanimous.

   

NEW BUSINESS:

MSAD#6 Approved Budget: Selectman Webb gave the results from Tuesday, May 13th vote on the school budget:

      Buxton           206 yes           129 no

      Frye Island         3 yes             6 no

      Hollis            159 yes           61 no

      Limington         114 yes           47 no

      Standish          279 yes           170 no

      TOTAL            761 YES           413 NO

The MSAD 6 Board of Directors hereby declares that there were more votes cast in the affirmative than in the negative on said Article and finds that said Article has passed.

State Homestead Reimburse Application: Selectman Dearborn made a motion to sign the Ratio Declaration & Reimbursement Application on Homestead Exemption for the State with the following figures:

      1. Total number of homestead exemptions granted #828.

      2. We plan to use the following Certified Ration to adjust the full just value exemptions: 100%.

      3. The corresponding total amount of 2008 Homestead value exempted is $10,764,000.

      4. The actual number of new homestead applications processed this year.  #30

Second by Selectman Webb and vote was unanimous.

MMDYRAC: Howard Allen, chairman of beach committee reported an ad was placed in the Shopping Guide giving details on the Tennis Lessons being offered, and advertising for attendant part-time.  The host will be here next week.  The gate will be locked starting the evening of Friday, May 16th.  There will be a scheduled opening and closing time until the beach is closed for the season.  This Saturday is a work cleanup day at the beach, all are asked to volunteer some time.  The $25.00 season passes should be back from the printers soon and can be purchased from the beach host or at the Town office.

 

INFORMATIONAL BULLETIN:

General Assistance Office is opened Monday’s from 9am-12pm and 2pm-4pm. 

Transfer Station Hours are, Saturday from 9am – 4pm; Sunday from 1-5pm; Wednesday from 10am – 2pm.  Selectman Webb reported the silver bullets are doing great and only once in awhile someone doesn’t want to follow the rules, and dumps stuff outside the bullets that should go to the Transfer Station.  If you see someone doing this, please get their plate number and report it to the Town office, the Selectmen will take it from there.

Blood Drive: The Boy Scouts will be sponsoring a blood drive on Saturday, May 24th from 8am to 1pm.

Salt Shed Project:  Selectman Dearborn reported the Planning Board passed the salt shed application Monday night, May 12th and the Selectmen will go from there.

Town Road Repair Update: Selectman Bickford reported there are still a couple of roads that need to be swept, Road Commissioner waiting for some rain.  You will see some ditching and roadwork going on, and Carroll’s took the measurement on the parking lot to submit a quoted price to surface area.

  

Selectman Dearborn made a motion to adjourn at 7:20p.m.  Meeting adjourned.
